Get an Endless Custom News Feed with Feedly and Chrome

By Jon Henshaw

I’ve been using NetNewsWire for years, but it has continued to be a tremendous resource hog on my Mac. That’s mainly due to the enormous amount of feeds I subscribe to, and its inability to manage those feeds efficiently. One of the best ways to shift resources from my own computer to another is to use a Web app. While Google Reader is a good Web based reader, I’ve never liked their user interface (UI).

Feedly provides the best of both worlds. It has an extremely attractive UI, and also handles the heavy lifting. It also syncs up with and uses Google Reader to manage feeds. Coupled with Google Chrome for Mac* and the Feedly Google Chrome extension, I now have a beautiful, never ending online news feed that’s customized to my tastes and interests.

*At the time of this writing, the Google Chrome for Mac Developer Release was required to use extensions.
