"Nashville Pizza Company" Uses Table Top Sign Holder from "New Belgium Brewing Company" but Doesn't Sell Their Beer

By

I lived in Denver for almost ten years before I moved to Nashville. When I lived there, my absolute favorite beer was made from a microbrew in Fort Collins called New Belgium Brewing Company. They didn’t sell outside of their region, so when I got to Nashville, I couldn’t enjoy drinking their Fat Tire anymore :(

A year or two ago, things changed. New Belgium Brewing Company went national, and started selling their beer in Tennessee. Not only were they selling it here, it was also very well received. Most restaurants–at least the restaurants I frequent–now sell it in the bottle or have it on draft. Life is good!

I was pleasantly surprised when I went to one of my favorite pizza places last night, Nashville Pizza Company, which is conveniently located in Franklin near my home, not Nashville. Every table had sign holders from New Belgium Brewing Company, which as all consumers know, means they sell their beer. However, when I asked the waitress if they had Fat Tire, she looked at me like I was crazy. I then asked her what beers they did sell from New Belgium Brewing Company. She looked at me blankly, and said “none.” And I was like, “whaahhh?!?” She then yelled over to the other people working there, and they confirmed that they didn’t sell any beers from New Belgium Brewing Company.

So basically, they’re doing a disservice to their customers by implying that they carry beer from New Belgium Brewing Company. In my opinion, they’re also being swarmy by using table top sign holders from a beer company they don’t provide beer for. Using those sign holders without actually carrying their beer is cheap and stupid. Table top sign holders are inexpensive, and all it does is annoy patrons like myself.
